Fishing Derby

Saturday, we all went to the Forest Service-sponsored fishing derby at City Park. Eric took the morning off of work so he could be with us.

Benaiah caught two rainbow trout almost right away.

He was so proud of those fish! We took them home and fried them for dinner. Between Noelle and Benaiah chowing down, Eric and I didn't get a bite!

They also had several stations for making lures, doing a fish print, and a casting challenge.

Smokey Bear and Sammy Salmon were also roaming around. I had to get our picture with Sammy!

All that fishing made us hungry so we stopped for a snack!

Summer Days

Benaiah and Noelle love going to "Grandma" Janet's house.

It's even better when they get to play with their friends Meadow, Brennan...

We got together with Caren and her kids while it was so nice out and tried out Logan's batting "T". A little batting was tried, but it was mostly fun for catching balls and playing golf with the bat.

Benaiah has also been enjoying riding his bike a lot with this nice weather. Here, he is showing how he can whistle through his tongue.

Ward Lake Hike

On one of Eric's days off, we took a hike around Ward Lake with the kids. The weather was threatening rain, but it turned out to be nice and we had such a great time!

The water pump was very exciting, as well as the squirrels who were looking for peanuts.

These last two photos are actually from another day we stopped at the lake. We didn't hike around this day, but roasted some sausage dogs, did a little wading and took a short walk. The wading came to an abrupt end when Benaiah picked up a rock with a leach on it. I tried to stay calm so I wouldn't frighten him, but it's hard to when it's something that disgusting!

Deere John,

Benaiah and Noelle were pretty excited about the little John Deere backhoe we rented a few weeks ago to finish spreading the gravel at our house. Noelle stopped liking the tractor as soon as it was running.
